Title: Sr. Hadoop Developer

Location: Work from Home

Schedule: Mon – Fri, 8:00AM – 5:00PM EST

Note: This is a W2 contract position – C2C & 3rd party candidates WILL NOT be considered

The Sr. Hadoop Developer is responsible for the design, development, and operations of systems that store, as well as managing large amounts of data, supporting automated enrollment processes on an EBS Platform using Spark/Scala. The Sr. Hadoop Developer is responsible for the development, programming, and coding of Information Technology solutions, as well as documenting detailed system specifications, participating in unit testing and maintenance of planned and unplanned internally developed applications, and evaluating and performance testing purchased products. The Sr. Hadoop Developer is responsible for including IT Controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, as well as availability of the application, and data processed or output by the application. The Sr. Hadoop Developer will be assigned to moderately complex development projects.

Job Duties:

• Write code for moderately complex system designs, write programs that span platforms, and code and create Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
• Write code for enhancing existing programs or developing new programs
• Review code developed by other IT Developers
• Provide input to and drive programming standards
• Write detailed technical specifications for subsystems and identify integration points
• Report missing elements found in system and functional requirements and explain their impacts on subsystems to team members
• Consult with other IT Developers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Project Managers, and vendors
• Scope time, resources, etc. to complete programming projects, including seeking review from other IT Developers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, or Project Managers on estimates
• Perform unit testing and debugging, and set test conditions based upon code specifications, relying on assistance from other IT Developers and team members to debug more complex errors, as needed
• Support the transition of application throughout the Product Development Lifecycle, documenting what has to be migrated, potentially coordinating points for subsystems
• Research vendor products / alternatives, conducting necessary vendor product gap analysis / comparison
• Be accountable for including IT Controls and following standard corporate practices to protect the confidentiality, integrity, as well as availability of the application and data processed or output by the application
• Handle additional duties, as assigned

Job Requirements:

• 5+ years of professional experience with technical design and coding in the IT industry
• 3+ years of professional experience with Hadoop, Spark, and Scala in a Lead Developer role (design & scaling technology)
• Experience with Apache / Kafka & DB2
• Experience with Hybrid cloud platforms (OpenShift)
• Proficiency programming in more than one object-oriented programming language
• Proficiency using standard desktop applications such as MS Suite and flowcharting tools, such as Visio
• Proficiency using debugging & versioning tools
• Thorough knowledge of Information Technology fields and computer systems, with an in-depth understanding of the Systems Development Lifecycle
• Experience and understanding with unit testing, release procedures, coding design, and documentation protocol, as well as change management procedures
• Strong cross-collaboration with different departments/teams
• High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy
• Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of responsibilities
