Greif is a leading supplier of industrial packaging products and services, growing from its beginnings in Cleveland, Ohio, to a global footprint across more than 30 countries and 200-plus locations. The Paper Mill Production Shift Supervisor manages stock prep, one of the mill’s two paper machines, and a team of 10-15 production colleagues on a three-shift, Southern Swing rotation. This role expects to be 80% “hands-on” or “on the floor” and 20% administrative tasks. The supervisor is responsible for managing production colleagues and ensuring proper equipment utilization to meet or exceed safety, quality, cost, productivity, and housekeeping targets. Responsibilities include supporting the company mission and values, building effective relationships with internal departments, being the first point of contact for team suggestions or concerns, ensuring colleagues understand their roles, directing team in resolving complaints, communicating production issues and daily results, providing feedback and corrective actions, training new colleagues, monitoring work schedules, reviewing and approving work hours, troubleshooting operational issues, and enforcing company rules and policies. Education typically includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Paper Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering OR High School Diploma, G.E.D. or skilled trade certification with at least two years of experience in the Paper Industry or related manufacturing environment. Required skills include supervisory and leadership skills, coaching, training, team building, performance development, conflict resolution, strong communication, organizational and time management skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, computer skills (Word, Excel, Kronos, One Notes), ability to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, Lean Six Green Belt Certification, and papermaking experience. Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
