Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist 

Salary Range: $25 - $28 Per Hour

Job Description: 

The Medical Billing Specialist plays a key role in the financial operations of our fertility clinic by ensuring accurate and timely billing of patient accounts, insurance claims processing, and payment posting. This role supports revenue cycle functions by working closely with front office staff, clinical teams, and insurance providers to resolve billing issues and ensure optimal reimbursement in compliance with regulatory standards and clinic policies. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

· Review and process daily billing for fertility-related services, including IVF, IUI, lab testing, and surgical procedures

· Submit electronic and paper insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner

· Review EOBs, identify claim denials or underpayments, and initiate follow-up with payers

· Respond to insurance and patient inquiries regarding billing, balances, and payment plans

· Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and refunds accurately

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies, fertility-specific coding, and prior authorization requirements

· Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve documentation or coding discrepancies

· Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding receivables to minimize bad debt

· Prepare patient statements and assist with prepayment estimates and financial counseling when needed

· Comply with HIPAA, billing regulations, and all clinic policies and procedures

· Participate in audits, training, and departmental meetings as required 

 

Qualifications: 

· High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or certificate in Medical Billing/Coding preferred

· Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably in a fertility or women’s health setting

· Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes

· Familiarity with fertility-related billing procedures and payer requirements is highly preferred

· Experience with medical billing software (e.g., eIVF, Nextech, Athena, or similar)

· Strong understanding of commercial insurance, authorization processes, and patient responsibility

· Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently

· Effective written and verbal communication skills
