Job Description

This team member will support the VP of Risk and Compliance in managing the Company's insurance program, claims and lawsuits, risk initiatives and risk reporting and training.

The qualified candidate will provide support in the following areas:

Oversight of US and Canadian insurance programs (property, general liability, umbrella, marine liability, auto, work comp, E&O, D&O, cyber, crime) with an insured value in excess of $300 million, including the completion of renewal applications and evaluation of necessary levels of insurance.

  • Management of all property and liability insurance claims and lawsuits through resolution, including consultation with carriers, legal counsel and claimants.
  • Touring communities to identify risk and facilitation of carrier and lender required inspections.
  • Preparation of complex annual insurance budget and premium allocations for financial planning and accounting teams.
  • Coordination and development of risk management policies and initiatives.
  • · Preparation of Semi-Annual Risk Management Report for executive team and Board of Directors summarizing incidents, status of legal matters and current risk management initiatives.
  • Hosting quarterly risk management meetings with Community Managers and providing risk management training as needed.
  • Coordination of insurance placement for new acquisitions.
  • Oversight of third-party vendor insurance compliance program.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, designations such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) preferred.
  • 5+ years of insurance and risk support in a multi-division company, preferably in the residential real estate/hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of legal issues around organizational liability and insurance trends.
  • Excellent proficiency with all facets of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Ability to drive results; convey a sense of urgency; translate the vision/mission/values of the company into actionable, quantitative plans.
