Somerset is currently looking for an Operations Manager for Paper Machine #2 to develop and lead personnel and business processes systems to fully support paper production. This position offers the opportunity to work and grow in a vibrant, forward-thinking mill with a team of highly-skilled, dedicated employees. The person in this role is integral to the overall success of the mill and, as such, is a key member of the management team.
Essential Function Responsibilities: - Must be able to lead productivity projects that lead to significant improvements
- Ability to implement and use systems to manage with
- Capable of filling in for machine managers.
Special Skills/Certifications, etc.: - Demonstrated good communications skills
- Strong computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to be promoted to a higher level of responsibility
- Proven ability to lead hourly and salary employees and set high expectations
- Skilled at improving organizational effectiveness and developing subordinates
- Ability to lead and manage a team.
- Demonstrated teamwork skills with peers and other areas of a paper mill
- Strong Safety Leadership
Entry Requirements: - BS in chemical, paper science or mechanical engineering or equivalent technical training and experience
- 10 years+ experience in coated, wood-free paper making operation
- Successful experience in managing 24-hour operation and multiple work crews
- Strong communication skills
- Extensive experience in coated, wood-free paper making operation (large, high speed coated machine experience preferred), including:
- On machine coating
- On machine calendering
- Winder operation
