In a bid to promote long-distance running and raise awareness about Dhaka’s environmental crisis, The Athlete X organized Training Session-2 at Uttara High School and College on Friday morning. The initiative is part of a broader movement to build a healthier Bangladesh through fitness, endurance, and community action.

Dozens of runners and fitness enthusiasts gathered early in the day for guided drills, training tips, and hydration strategies — all tailored for an upcoming mega event: Dhaka Summer Half Marathon 2025, set to take place on June 20 at the iconic Hatirjheel.

What sets this event apart is its bold seasonal choice. While most long-distance races in Bangladesh are traditionally held in the cooler months of winter or spring, The Athlete X is breaking new ground by hosting the half marathon in the peak of summer. The decision is strategic — aiming to spotlight the urgent need for environmental awareness in the capital, which struggles with extreme heat and some of the world’s worst air pollution levels.

The event is anchored by the impactful slogan: “Make Dhaka Greener Again”, a rallying cry for residents to take collective responsibility for the city’s future. The Athlete X hopes that this unique summer run will not only challenge athletes but also inspire green action across communities.

As June 20 approaches, training sessions like this are equipping runners with the tools they need to thrive — physically and mentally — in the summer heat, while keeping the mission front and center: running for change, running for a greener Dhaka.
