Algeria has expressed its support for Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, as a candidate for the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
The endorsement was conveyed by Abdelouahab Saidani, Ambassador of Algeria to Dhaka, during a courtesy call on Humayun Kabir, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka on Monday Morning.
Held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, the discussion covered various aspects of the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Algeria.
Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, energy collaboration, education and cultural exchanges, as well as mutual support in multilateral forums.
The Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister expressed Bangladesh’s keen interest in further deepening and diversifying its relationship with Algeria. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
The Algerian Ambassador reiterated his country’s strong interest in enhancing bilateral ties and expressed hope for undertaking joint initiatives in several promising sectors. Both sides also voiced optimism about further expanding cooperation through high-level visits and regular dialogue in the future.
