Brent Christensen, designated US Ambassador to Bangladesh, is expected to arrive in Dhaka Monday afternoon on January 12, 2026 as the post remains vacant since the last USA Ambassador, Peter Haas, left Bangladesh in an unceremonious way in late 2023.
Brent Christensen will present his credentials to President of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban in the city on Thursday (January 15, 2025), sources said.
The Bangladesh mission in Washington issued a 5-year visa to Brent Christensen in less than 48 hours as per diplomatic practices of the both countries.
Bangladesh diplomats, also posted in different cities of the USA, also get a 5-year visa within 48-72 hours.
